Using air purifiers for effective odor reduction often requires a specialized air cleaner, and a some research into what the smell is made of that needs to be removed. Most household odors, including musty basement and pet smells, are usually composed of VOC’s or volatile organic compounds that create the odors when those chemical compounds become airborne.
