Without a pre air filter, most HEPA and carbon filters have to be replaced at least once every 3 months. Pre filters can extend the life of your air purification system’s filters by up to 3x, saving you time and money. Pre-carbon and HEPA filters are relatively inexpensive and simple to install.
And unlike most HEPA and carbon filters that cannot be cleaned and reused, most pre-filters can be washed or vacuumed and then reused over and over again. Some pre-filters, however, such as Electrocorp and Aller Air, can only be vacuumed once—any more than once removes the electrostatic charge and can damage the prefilter, so remember to replace these every 2-3 months with new pre-filters. If you don’t see a pre-filter made by your air purifier’s brand, simply choose the generic pre-filter material and cut to fit.
